I am trying to make a horizontal button with this Marquee, however, somethings messed up........it won't will not drag to the left or right, just up and down, thus making a "verticle"skinny.

I can Drag the cross hair fo the left and right...but the rectangle will not follow for some reason.

It sounds like an issue with the tool settings in Photoshop.

What version are you using? Are you using the Marquee tool?

The marquee tool is for making a selection, not for drawing. You might want to use the Shape tool (U) instead.

-OR-

It sounds like you may have something selected and in trying to move it, you are grabbing the positioning piece out of the center. If that is the case, your selection will move so long as you put your pointer inside the selection area without hitting the target-looking thing in the center. If the object is small, you may need to zoom in.

I have an eye for detail like you'd never believe.

Okay, DC Scene

It is the Rounded Rect Shape tool (not th eMarq.)

Version of Photoshop is "CS" (I think it's 8.0 as it says on the load screen).

Could the the latter, though I am trying to visualize what you are meaning. It happens in any NEW file I make...and it ONLY does it in the rounded rect., not the other shape tools, eclipse, Square Rect, etc

No, don't have anything selected.....I can open a new canvas (file) and simply to make a "Rounded Rectangle" without success....does not go left or right (Well, it would go just like a TINY bit left and right, but will go up and down unlimitless), just up and down....which is wierd....any other shape works just fine.

So I guess, I'm going ot have to wait on an answer from you...or just ge tstuck making "Sqaure Rectangular" buttons from now on. lol

"Reset all Tools to "Default" settings' worked.

Don't know wha it did before....but I clicked the Shape in the options tool bar....did a drop down..and picked the above command, and it worked.

When you select a shape tool, look on the shape tool bar drop down you will see two boxes height and width when you have fixed size selected. if either of these boxes has a number in them then the shape will be fixed size in that direction
End of Line.
