Still has the ClearType issues. Also the mouseovers are very slow on my system.

I know about the ClearType issues. I plan on resolving them by Saturday.
Also, the slow mouseovers are due to the amount of information changing on the client when a mouseover occurs. I'm working on ideas to speed everything up. Of course, when I add the clock, it won't help matters much !!!

Thank you for your comments. I wouldn't so much call it "brilliant", though, as "absurd". Really, you can do pretty much anything with JavaScript on the client side. There are probably limits to what you SHOULD do, though.

Looks great in MSIE, but comes out a bit funny in Opera (the title stretches and goes onto a second line, also some weird effect on the title that breaks it up in places <?!?!>)... dunno about any other browsers

Yeah, I haven't bothered with Opera testing yet. For the contest, I'm not gonna worry about it, although once I go live with the site, I guess it will matter.

Here's an update.
I eliminated the CSS2 text effects (which speeds up the interface dramatically).
I also added some cool mouse-over effects for the side menus and rethought some minor layout and color issues.

Pretty cool transio. I like the mouseover effect on the cell, not a fan of the removed underline on mouseover, but other than that it kicks @$$. And it's the most documented page I've ever seen!

Very impressive, takes a while to initially draw but then much faster for mouseovers than it was before.

The initial drawing of it is intentionally delayed... it is an animated rendering that's supposed to (somewhat) mimic flash
