I have an HTML Tutorial on my website:
http://www.1728.com/web1.htm
It is intended for absolute beginners and might be trivial stuff for advanced folks such as yourselves. Still, I'm sure there's a need for this among Internet users in general.
And there's also Part II if you really want to see it.

nice tutorial, maybe try making it a little easier on the eyes?

I usually choose "Arial" as the font for my webpages and sometimes "Comic Sans MS". (It's generally agreed that fonts with NO serifs are easiest to read on web pages). It seems I didn't specify the font and so it seems to have defaulted to "Times New Roman" (which does have serifs). Anyway, I have edited it so that "Arial" is now the specified font.
Perhaps you think the font might be a bit small. Again, depending on the browser, there is a lot of variation. But that is something that can be easily adjusted by each individual.

i'm sorry, i should have explained more.
i meant maybe by adding some tables and organizing the page a little more, it would become more readable.

It is also generally agreed that Black Font on a White background is much more easier to read than Blue/Red on a White Background. Just a thought though.

Yeah, I almost mentioned that but I figured that the tables would be a good start.
Just try adding some general structure and sprucing it up, you will see that the results are worth it.

Well it is nice to see this is a lively thread. I've only stated one other thread about 2 weeks ago - "critique my site" - got one reply - and it was from Holy Promethium.
I will admit that as far as website-building is concerned, content is my strong suit. I do appreciate all your opinions and constructive criticisms. And I hope this thread doesn't end here. Plus, I just might attempt making a few changes to the tutorial.

Okay, I made a few changes. (See? I don't just say I'm going to do that).
Granted, these are minor changes but it does look a little bit neater. I'd do more but I do work a full-time job and so work on the website will slow down on the weekdays.

That looks better, even though the changes are minor.

On the "font" part of your website, you have 100+ fonts, but like (about) only 20 of them actually work.
Fix that, and work on making the site look prettier.

Want to know WHY they don't work? Well at the top of the page it says "Scroll to the bottom for Instructions". In the instructions it says:
**********************************************
--- Most importantly - Do you have the font on YOUR OWN computer? If you don't then you WON'T be viewing that font at all. Instead, you will be viewing "Courier New" font, which should be on your computer.
**********************************************
See? I was trying to make my site "prettier" but I have to take time out to tell people how to read instructions.

Is all that really necessary though?

Good point. I like your constructive criticism.
Now that you mention it I am usually very concise in my explanations and if you look at any of the converters on my site you'll see that they are ridiculously easy to use. None of the 'from' 'to' foolishness. Input 1 number and you get all the possible conversions.
Try the temperature convertor. www.1728.com/convtmp2.htm
See? Extremely terse yet very efficient.
Okay so you think in the tutorials and the font display I go overboard in my explanations? Hmmm okay you've given me something to consider there.

I'm not saying I felt like this or anything, but you've gotta take into some consideration that some website visitors might feel like you are "talking down" to them.
Try removing the capitilization from "YOUR OWN" and "WON'T". Your "overboard concise explanation" will be harmless and otherwise helpful to some visitors. :)

I think my explanation was much too wordy.
You will probably like the 'pared down' version of both of those font lists. I sure do.

I do like it better as well.

Okay, I have updated, rewritten and generally "neatened up" the 2 HTML tutorial pages:
http://www.1728.com/web1.htm
http://www.1728.com/web2.htm
Please let me know what you think. I made a great many changes.

Well, that's about as much reworking of those 2 pages as I am ever going to do. I thank both megablaz0r and jlgoose for taking the time to submit their input.

Wow someone posted to the thread after a half year.
In all that time, I have rewritten both tutorials. (Even though I said I was through with those).

mouli, this thread is 2 years old. Create a new thread in the relevant forum :).
Oh yeah, do not use this resource to learn html. Almost all of it is incorrect.
