I have created my first website and would like some input on what everybody thinks. Does anyone have any suggestions?
The address is http://www.table9music.com
Any responses would be much appreciated. Thankshttp://www.table9music.com

I don't believe it will display properly in 800x600 without scrolling horizonally; to give you an idea of how wide that is without changing resolutions, this page (http://www.webdesignforums.net/?styleid=3) should just barely fit in a maximized IE window at 800x600.
Also updating the page title (i.e., "Index" to something else) will make your ranking on Google soar--speaking from experience on this one.
Other than that, pretty nice :)

What exactly is a ranking on google?

In this case, if I were to search for "Table 9 Music" but your page was just called "index" then Google wouldn't think the page was as relevant; if the page were called "Table 9 Music" which matched my query exactly then it would be near or at the top of search results.

Filburt is right.
It doesn't display on a 800x600 without scrolling.
Otherwise the site is good.

I can only presume you are a MAC user..(sorry to all the MAC users, and apologies if you're not). 800x600 is the way to go. It;s the normk in the corporate world, and that;s where most people will hit from....the work desk. Please take the advice of previous replies and adjust to 800x600....it just doesn't work otherwise..

sorry, and yes, your page title is critical to many search engines.

I agree with everybody else. 8x6 is a good resolution to design for. I run my machine at 1400x1050, but that's really rare when you think about average, non-techie users.
I like the layout, though! The graphics are nice and don't detract from the info. Good job!

Web Usability Rule Nr.1:
No usless text on the home page. The "East Side Story " dosen't belong there. Make a link to it and replace it with something else the "Show dates", for instance are more important.
Also try a RollOver effect for the buttons. It will add more life to the page.
The 8x6 is a dead resolution anyway so don't worry about it. Other than that the site looks good!

Hey Everybody,
I am currnelty redesning the site to 800x600 and am putting the showdates on the home page and completly taking out the East Side Story Text all together. I will post the site again in about a day or so. Thanks for all your input.

I'm sorry but I dont get the whole 8x6 I run 16*12 (also have 22" monitor ) but my browser is sized a little less that 1024x768. I never ran it.
The site is nice, liked it alot but the music intro ... bad for dial up users and the music downloads instead of playing ... and if you wanr ppl to dl them may I suggest using mp3's then.
and for a side note one wouldn't be able to view MSN.com w/o scrolling in 8x6
I would hope that ppl wouldn't leave it at that. (scarry)

msn.com is done using width percents.
so it will take up the whole browser window on a 1024x768 aswell as on a 800x600.
so it does display without scrolling on an 800x600.

Sniper; I visited your site and forums. I noticed you are using a free forums provider, with a banner & conventional thread structure. I thought I might suggest to you the forums that I use; www.boardnation.com. These are fully configurable forums with many features & lots of help. They are also free, ad free, and hosted free. you can get an example @ my site (http://moveon.com2.info) of how they look, although others have made much more striking designs. Just thought I'd tell you; hope that helps..
