I got the link from a post at http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/ , the official hacking site for vBulletin. I actually don't see many sites that violate most of those rules, but a few like anchored background images I see constantly.

It works fine here. Are you all using IE6?

I am and it worked okay for me. Next to Web Pages That Suck (http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com), this is one of the best (or worst?) tutorials I've seen on how not to do things.

But both of these sites have forgotten my most favourite and annoying new design trick of all: create a JavaScript that not only pops up a new window, but then tries to close the browser window that opened it after. And just to make it really interesting, make sure it has no status bars, toolbars, header bars, or scroll bars, have it take up the full screen and leave no way whatsoever to close it. I can't remember the URL for this site, sadly, but I have seen this.

Thats funny I thought the color scheme, graphics, and layout of that page were all very annoying - was that on purpose?

Another annoying one is when you switch links around. Like when you click on "Home" it takes you to index, or when you click on "Staff" it takes you to the sign up page lol.

The site worked fine for me . . . I have IE 6, SP 1, with Q810847 security upgrade.

Yeah, that's an awesome site. I think I've been inspired to make a site that breaks every one of those rules at the same time . . . if I do I'll tell you. :)

i dont have a problem with the forced background to remain in same place thing. as long as the test in on something readable...

It's not about you, it's about your visitors. Like the site said, some people become confused.

I'm not a big advocate of watermarks but I have put one on a site that I"m doing that's under beta testing right now and no one has yet become confused by it. My client absolutely loves it too because it keeps her brand mark fresh in people's heads.

There's nothing wrong with breaking the occasional rule here and there as long as the target audience likes it.

I have a good amount of experience when it comes to making pages like that. And I don't even need fancy scripts :P

so there.

One thing that I can't stand about web pages is when they don't specify a background color, yet they have a background color on the links. It has to be one of the most annoying things I have ever encountered.

It's a shame how much of that garbage only works in IE.

Forr some reason, viewing that page in Firefox has made an Applet called "fphover" open on every page i have open.

This needs to be un-stickied, since the original site doesn't exist anymore.
