Heres how you make your flash files transparent:

Inside the <OBJECT> tags, add a PARAM for "wmode", Value of "Transparent"

This will make the background of your SWF animation transparent.

No idea if it works in Swish, etc.

However, ALPHA BLENDING DOES WORK. eg I can have a 50% alpha blue box in my flash animation and it will alpha blend with anything underneath it in the browser.

In terms of flash player compatability, I know that transparency works in both FP5 and FP6, but the alpha blending bit might only be FP6. Don't quote that though.

Just a side note, wmode does not work in NS 4.7 and it might not work in the following also: Opera, Modzillia, and NS 6.1

Hey, right on! I guess it does pay to search first and ask questions later. This is a cool trick. It leaves me with a dilemma, though. Like mentioned here, looks awesome over my background in IE, Mozilla however won't play along . . .

BTW, worked just fine on SWiSH generated flash.
