    ok. first I am going to start with the stoping the movie. follow these steps
    1. make a new layer called "action" if you don't have one
    2. do not put anything on this layer other then actionscript
    3. make a keyframe on the actions layer where you want to stop the movie
    4. on the keyframe, hit F9. This brings up the actionscript menu
    5. in the window, type stop();
    now, with the buttons. what you want to do with them? a play button? a replay button?

    oh no. You never use flash for something as important as a websites navigation. I just realized that Swish is a flash program, which I don't know how to use. sorry.

    You don't use layers in swish, they're called Sprites. And they have their own timelines. If you want an animation, usually you do it by moving the sprite's frame to a certain frame, playing it through the animation, then stop it. I'll elaborate later, after I know how far you've got.
