    Not sure if this post belongs here or under 'other' in the programming ... but..
    I was wondering if any could tell me how to obtain the index number of an element in an Actionscript 3.0 array. After some searching around the web I found code that'll do it in AS2 - but it doesn't work in AS3.
    I'm not too up on my AS programming so if someone could point me in the right direction? - thanks.
    to be clear
    var names:Array = new Array("Peter","John","Stewart");
    I want to be able to assign a variable to = the index position of say... John - which should = 1

    Code:
    names.indexOf("John")
    should do it, I believe.
