    So i have to admit it:

    I'm a novice with flash. And further more, I'm sorry to say that i'm one of those people following one of thousands of "how to make a flash website tutorial" (specifically this one) I guess you gotta start somewhere....

    SO...I' followed this tutorial tooth and nail, even through the confusing bits, and I've just gotten to the part where he uses transition manager. I created the required "utils.Fader.as" file:

    utils.fader.as:
    package utils
    {
    //Import the needed packages.
    import fl.transitions.Transition;
    import fl.transitions.TransitionManager;
    import fl.transitions.Fade;
    import fl.transitions.easing.*;
    import flash.display.MovieClip;

    //Fader class definition.
    public class Fader
    {
    //This function will apply a "fade in" effect for any given Movie Clip.
    public static function fadeIn(mc:MovieClip):void
    {
    //Use the TransitionManager to fade in the movie clip.
    TransitionManager.start(mc, {type:Fade, direction:Transition.IN, duration:1, easing:Strong.easeIn});
    }

    //This function will apply a "fade out" effect for any given Movie Clip.
    public static function fadeOut(mc:MovieClip):void
    {
    //Use the TransitionManager to fade in the movie clip.
    TransitionManager.start(mc, {type:Fade, direction:Transition.OUT, duration:1, easing:Strong.easeOut});
    }
    }
    }

    and added the action script to my actions and my home frames:

    Home frame/layer:
    stop();
    utils.Fader.fadeIn(logo_mc);
    utils.Fader.fadeIn(name_mc);
    utils.Fader.fadeIn(ddd_mc);

    actions frame/layer:
    /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    // Includes and Imports.
    /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    import utils.Fader;

    And when I debug, I get the error:
    TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
    at fl.transitions::TransitionManager$/start()
    at utils::Fader$/fadeIn()
    at ethangentphotography_Scene1_fla::MainTimeline/frame2()

    Now, as far as his help, he sorta left us to drift on this one, and to compound things i'm using cs4, and he wrote it for cs3.

    I've done some research into the error, and even TransitionManager, and can't really make heads or tales of it.

    I someone could just take a look at my code, and even just steer me in the right direction that would be more than helpful.

    I'm feel like im thrustiong someone else's problem on you guys, but I honestly don't know what to do, I've been putting in 6-8hours a night into solving this problem for three days now, and I'm just really desperate. So, I'm sorry for being one of those guys.

    Thanks in advance:
    Flash newbie Ethan
