    i wish to create a form in flash where the user enters their postal adress, and then an email is sent to my company with their address as the message body.

    I have written this actioncript code, but dont know if you can use variables in the getURL("mailto: command?

    could someone shed some light on how to do it? i have put the variable 'address_field' in the string, but am not convinced that this is the solution.
    Thanks Guys

    heres the code:
    stop();
    submit_btn.onRelease = function(){
    address_field.text.isEmpty("message",10);
    getURL("mailto:design@bof-uk.com?subject=BROCHURE REQUEST&body=address_field");
    }

    id create a movie clip in the libary. create a input text box named mail and a button named sendmail.

    Also i created an extra dynamic text box with var emailStatus so that incorrect email addresses are not posted and a user is informed of a mistake.

    Attact this code to the send button

    on (release) {
    if (!Email.length || Email.indexOf("@") == -1 || Email.indexOf(".") == -1) {
    EmailStatus = "Please enter a valid E-mail address";
    }
    else {
    loadVariablesNum ("snowMailPHP.php", "0", "Post");
    EmailStatus = "You Message Is Now Being Sent and A Reply Will Be Made As Soon As Possible";
    }
    }

    Then i send the details to a php script here a really simple script

    <?
    $ToEmail = "your@mail.co.uk";

    $Message = $Email;

    mail($Message);

    Print "_root.Mail.EmailStatus=Complete - Your mail has been sent";

    ?>

    This could need a bit of jiggling as i cut out all the extra text fields i have in my form and im not a good php coder but i hope i pointed u in right direction. If i can find the address of the original tutorial i followed ill put link up it was really good.
    Whats the matter the CIA got u pushing too many pencils ???

    thanks for that!
    unfortunatly, i have discoverd my host odesnt support php, as im on shared web space.
    So i only get asp.....?
    but if i pay 1500 (as opposed to the 200 im currently paying) then i get my own server, and thus php functionality.
    Bah!
