It seems that flash does not reload xml files when the page is refreshed. You have to open a new browser window or tab to get a reload of the xml file. Does anyone know how to force flash to reload xml files every time the page it is on is refreshed?

Close the browser window, then open a new instance.

I realize that. It's too bad flash makes instances of xml files static in that fashion.

What would I do if I wanted live stats from an xml file? I bet there isn't a way which would be depressing.

Those are your limitations. I can't tell you how to architect your software because I know nothing of your environment.

However, one way of doing it is you can use flash remoting on a separate server that uses Web Services through the remoting app to retrieve the XML from your DB server. That way, you're not overloading your server with too many tasks. It may be too complicated a solution for you, but it works.
