    Hello,

I never worked with Illustrator and thought to work something out. So I created this :

I wanted to select this object and then add a inner glow. but as you can see it keeps selecting a part of the object. I tried everything lasso tool, magic wand,... I also opened a new photo and tried to select something of it but it kept selecting the full image. I know it's something very easy but i'm stuck on it !

    Try using the pathfinder window.
Click magic wand and click the image
    Window>>Pathfinder
Use the Shape mode buttons and it should select all
    Cheers

The object could be locked, try pressing CTRL + ALT + 2.

Otherwise, check you layers to see if they are locked at all..

I uploaded the file so you can see it for yourself.

You have applied a 'profile' to the stroke on the object.

On the bottom of the 'Stroke' tab (Windows -> Stroke), look to the bottom and you will see the profile settings. This is why you can not select it directly, you have to either edit the profile with the 'Width Tool ' (Shift + W) OR set the profile to uniform and draw you design as a shape.

Make the fill of the object transparent to get a better idea.

The problem that you have is because You created that specific stroke for the file... You are still selecting everything, however you don't see it because of the option you did. You have two options or expand the appearance (object/expand appereance) or create a new monkey with two different layers and then join them I am uploading your file again. I just expanded the appearance. Do tell me if that was what you needed.

Its a PDF file but it still has the illustrator editing capabilities so you should be able to see the difference.
    Cheers
