    Hi,

I'm trying to convert a lot of text on paths back to vector line work with no text so that I can apply stroke styles to them. Any suggestions?

    thanks!

Do you mean that your text...If so,have it outline just go to type and click on create outline or go to object and expand appearance. That will make your text not editable but you can add strokes or any effect on it...

Actually, I'd like to get rid of the text completely and only have the line leftover the text was on to apply the stroke to. thanks!

type out font > select all typed font > right click > choose "Create Outlines"

font is now a vector and can be edited with the direct selection tool.

You can also right click and create outlines too if you did not want to go through the longer process.
