    The last one I made was too big, and did not deliver the message.

    This one is just a gif but I am not sold on it, looks like a 2nd grader designed it

    Nice concept, (the second that is) maybe you should look into using Flash, the transitions would be much softer and easier on the eyes to look at.

    In that case try adding more frames to the .gif in order to graduate the changes using a technique such as opacity fades etc that will reduce the impact of the 'Harsh in your face' appearance.
