    Hi Guys,
I'm a total noob at Photoshop and while I can face I might never be an PS expert, I'd like to learn how to use the basic tools. So instead of following tutorials that don't interest me, I thought I'd create some 'graphics'/shapes I've seen on other sites.

What I'm trying to create is the login piece for myspace.com. It contains the 'Login' and 'Sign Up!'tabs.

So, I was trying to create a simple rectangle with no color! I tried the marquee tool and I chose to color it white which doesn't work because you can't even see the borders. So. um. this is embarassing, but how can I create a shape without filling it up with color and just the basic border?

    TIA.

Simple: Go ahead and use the marquee, then Edit>Stroke

A more versatile way of doing it, on a new layer, use the marquee, then use the "stroke" layer effect. Make sure it's the only thing on the layer. The benefit of doing it this way as opposed to the simple way is that you can change the color/width/behavior later on, while the simple way cannot be undone.

I have an eye for detail like you'd never believe.
