Yep, I forgot! That's old age for you! I did it 4 years ago, my last time playing with graphics and the web. It COULD have been in Photoshop CS but I'm pretty certain it was in PSP 9. I seem to remember there was a "pointer" for want of as better description that I could move along to determine the transition point of the text gradient. I've been sat here ages trying to recreate and for the life of me I can't. Any ideas please?

    Thanks, Lol

You can do that in Photoshop - I'll try to tell you the steps but may be leaving some things out...

    1. Make your first layer a blank white layer.
    2. Add your text (I like to do this with a layer for each word, helps with positioning)
    3. Make another layer, select the bottom part and fill with black
    4. Yet another layer, select the top part and choose "gradient fill"
    5. In the top bar, click on the gradient (should be under the Edit and Image menu items, when your workspace is in Web layout)
    6. This should open a window where you can use a slider to shape the gradient.
    7. Then drag your mouse through the selection in the direction you want the gradient to go.
    8. hide the bottom white layer if you want - it shouldn't be showing by now anyway.

If your gradient isn't exactly how you want it, choose that layer, click Edit > transform > scale and you wil get your corners to click and drag it how you like - you can stretch it past the image edges until you get it looking just how you want it.

Hope this helps - let me know!

    Interesting:

That is mighty close to what I would do in Fireworks, I bet I could actually use PS if only I could afford it! LOL
    Peace, Mike

@AlphaMare - thank you! That's a major help and something I can practice.

@Mike - embarrassingly last night as I went to bed I remembered it COULD have been Fireworks I did it in. Since I made all these things I have bought a new PC and not loaded half the programs I had on my old one, Fireworks being amongst them! I'm going to load fireworks up and see if it rings any bells.
If you have the time Mike a short instructional would be great as I try to reclaim a few skills I had.

    Thanks, Lol
