im trying to save a picture as 300dpi for printing. i changed the color scheme from rgb to cmyk and tried adjusting the ppi in the units section under preferences but whatever i do the color mode still comes out as rgb and the resolution comes out as 72ppi.

how do I achieve the desired results? (working in cs5)

I normally go to Image->Image Size and change the settings there for DPI and then Image->Mode to change the color profile. BUT, I wouldn't change teh color profile to CMYK for printing a photo. Most printers expect RGB because that is what point and shoot camera use. But you can try it that way and see how it comes out. Yes, working late creates the funniest questions sometimes doesn't it?
