    I have a hunch that it might just be plain old Arial 10pt in Bold Capitals. I'm not sure though

    That is Helvetica. However the resolution of the jpeg image is 300 pixel/inch. So the size that perfectly overlaped the type was "3pt" with Smooth Anti-Aliasing in Photoshop.

    Here is a cool utility that allows you to upload an image of a font, and it will show you the closest matching fonts they have in their database.
