I am trying to make a banner for the top of one of my pages with a wavy line at the bottom pretty similar to the one underneath the picture in this site:

    visit scotland

I want the line to be curvy and also different sizes in places. It will eventually blend with the pale background of my web page. In other words, wavy line will be on pale background and the wave will look like part of my page....oooo magic! :glasses:

I can do the wavy line, my probs are twofold tho:

1)Can't get it to look different thicknesses.

    2) Jaggy!!! I save it and it looks ok(ish) and I have tried optimising it both as a gif and a jpg but to no avail: it always looks jaggy.

If anyone knows how to sort this I would be extreeeeemely grateful cuz it is drivin me nutty. I use Paint Shop Pro at home and can get access to Fireworks if it can do this any better! Or if anyone can recommend a (relatively inexpensive) image optimiser that would sort this??

    Many thank Qs

Have you tried using two bezier curves and then flood filling between them?

It's best to create them as vectors so that you can manipulate them to give the varied thickness that you want. If you make sure the bezier tool is set to anti-alias the curves come out pretty smooth.
