This is my first attempt at a disjointed rollover in Fireworks and I'm naturally having a problem. I've made a circular image with small images around the outside of it. On a mouseover I want some text to pop up in the middle of the circular image. You can see it here. http://friedrichsenfamily.com/disjointhome.htm

My problem is not getting the rollovers to work, it is the appearance of the entire image once I slice it up. It becomes totally broken up. The image link above is after inserting only 2 slices. Is there a trick to how you slice things?

Is it possible to do this in fireworks? All the tutorials I've seen seem to deal with lateral or parallel disjoints and not circular, but I would think FW is quite capable of doing it. It's me I'm worried about.

Could you guys please take a look and see what may be the problem?

    Thanks Much,

    Joe

Well, I've been playing around with this for awhile and I guess it was a slicing issue that made the whole thing break apart. I'm new at this, I bet you couldn't tell.

Anyway, the image is now OK but the text that shows up in the middle on the mouseover has a white rectangular background. I have everything set to transparent so I thought just the text would show up and not a background. What am I missing? Anybody?

OK, I figured out how to make it work, this is probably a big work around but what the hey.

Made a textured circle in frame 1 main picture that kind of matches the background texture. Copied that circle to frames 2 thru 9 behind the text. Used hot spots for the disjointed rollovers.

I think I learned a couple of things. One, there is more than one way to skin a cat. And two, there ought to be an easier way of doing stuff like this. Once again, I am disappointed in Macromedia's attempt at support.
