    Hi

I want to create a small block on screen of text that users can scroll through and read my employment history. I spent hours last night reading the help file, i created a dynamic text field, created up and down buttons and added the correct action script. but nothing seemed to work. The really frustraighting thing is when i type in all of my text the text field just gets bigger and bigger instead of staying a set size and allowing users to scroll.

    What am i doing wrong

Another problem is that i need the background of the text to be transparent but when i switch to dynamic text i get a white background?

Can anyone help me solve these problems i gotta get this work done by tommorrow morning.

    Cheers for any help

You seem to be trying to make your own custom scrollbar, so this may not help.

I made this file in 5 minutes using the "scrollbar component" so there is no code involved. It's not as cool as making your own scrollbar, but if you are in a bind, this one will only take a couple minutes to make.

    Heres a quick runthrough:

click and drag (with the text tool) the desired size of the text box.

set the textbox properties to be like the ones in my .fla
    (dynamic, multiline)

open the 'components' panel. (Window > Components)

drag the 'scrollbar' component on top of your text box.

finally, type or paste your text into the text box.

    Hope this helps
