    I was wondering how I can put one of those little icons that come up on certain browsers next to the URL.

    Like the one here is a W.

    Simply

    >Make a 16x16 pixel image and save it as a .bmp

    >Then rename it to favicon.ico

    >Then insert the following
    Code:
    link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" />
    into the <head>

    And bingo your very own favicon. And it's that easy.
    Hope this helps,
    Daniel.

    The code required is actually:
    Code:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" />
    www.favicon.com

    i got this to work but i have a question in regards to how to save the bmp. when i save the image as a bmp i am prompted to choose between windows and OS/2. does it matter which i choose?

    i am asking because my icon shows up but when i bookmark it in firefox(OSX) it justs gives me the generic icon, not my icon. other icons appear in the bookmarks including WDF.

    any ideas whats going on?

    I have this code:
    Code:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/ico" href="images/eb_favicon.ico" />
    within the head tags.

    When i first access my page i can see the favicon. But when i start to navigate through my site it disappears being replaced by the generic "world".

    Any ideas why it keeps disappearing?

    also, all of the following code is included using php's function: include "header.php";

    Code:
    <html lang="en">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    <title>Eric Busch :: Homepage</title>
    <link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/ico" href="images/eb_favicon.ico" />
    </head>
    <body
    any ideas as to what is happening. if you would like to see it in action just click my signature "My Homepage"

    thanks
    eric
