I was thinking about purchasing a MAC to do some graphic design work, i've done all my work the last few years with PCs and have worked with PCs most of my working career, do any of you have an opinion either way? I would like to hear what people think about PCs and Macs for graphic design.

All the real serious graphics designers have a nice Mac on their desktop.
All the professional graphic tools are available for Mac (Photoshop, Illustrator. All the macromedia serie is also available for Mac).
If I had the money, I would buy a Mac.

The question is if you want to do other stuff with your Mac computer. If not, then if you can afford it and want to, then do so. Remember however that you may have to buy new compatible (the same) software for it. Not sure on the last point...

Ahhhhhhh the mac vs pc debat... For the most part you dont need to consern yourself with the differences. However serious designers use Mac's for two reasons.. Most graphic applications were orgionally made on a mac and that is most people first learned to use the software. So its their preffered platform.. The other is because they were orgionally written for the Mac and the mac is still seen as the graphic designers platform of choice they ususally perform better on a mac. And espeically now that the 64-bit G5 is avaliable on the mac end software (if written to do so) can take advantage of of the processor(s)

But in real world senarios you would be just as good with a pc as you would a mac. The only time you would need a mac is when you KNOW you need a mac. (personally I use both)
