Website Shop Using Ads as a Currency Generator

I'm looking to build a website to sell various things; however, I do not want to give the option for users to spend any real world money. I want to require them to view ads or complete surveys (basically like swagbucks or something similar to that) to earn a virtual currency specific to my website that they can then use to purchase items available in my website's shop.

I am able to build simple websites, but I have no experience with creating websites that allow people to become registered users. I have also never created a site that holds its' own currency or virtual shop. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Zach

Stu's right, although he should probably have explained why he's right and why I (and I can probably say "we" in the case of he and I) hate these sorts of posts.

    1) You have no experience with user registration sites. If you have none, you won't understand this, but there is a lot that goes into even the most basic of registrations. You have to validate data. You have to make sure that people enter in valid emails You have to verify things. You'll have to respond when people do stupid things or enter in garbage data into your forms. You'll have to deal with bots (which will definitely grow hair on your chest if you can, but they're a nightmare).

    2) You want to do something non-standard as far as "currency" is concerned. It's hard enough to build an online store with a "normal" currency such as USD, CAD, etc. People will do stupid things when it comes to ordering just with those, and you're going to want to build something that requires them to do things they normally wouldn't. People don't like doing weird things.

    3) You want to require people to view something. Okay. How are you going to do that, exactly? Let's say it's a movie ad. How do you make sure they viewed it for the full X number of seconds? That's a massive headache from a programming point of view.

These are only three of the things you'll need to consider, and why I hate this type of a question. It seems easy enough in your head, so you say "hey, someone will tell me how to do it step-by-step" when you've only thought it through a bit of the way. You've also "built simple websites" (whatever those are), so it must be an easy or a logical extension, or someone has a plugin or a piece that can be retrofitted (the most common request that way is a WordPress plugin because everything can be done with WordPress...at least you didn't assume that much, so you deserve some credit there). I'm not trying to discourage you, but what you're proposing is a rather monumental undertaking, as is the case with many other similar ideas we get around here, and I don't think you necessarily see it for what it is. I'm a programmer, and i wouldn't touch your idea with a hundred-foot pole because of the variables and complexities associated with it.
