Your eyes do not deceive you; I have added an advertisement to the header of most pages. The logic is for both internal reasons as well as the fact that running WDF may soon cost in excess of $200, and I do not feel that it will be successful to run a donation campaign for that amount, nor would I feel comfortable to receive large donation amounts from single individuals as I have in the past.

The ad provider is Google's AdSense, which means text-only ads that are targeted to either the page's or the site's content. The payment model depends largely on click-throughs, so clicking a link will generate a small amount of revenue that will directly fund WDF.

I will be implementing the option to hide the ads for :wdfplus: users. In their current state, I do not feel that they are especially intrusive and have done my best with the code Google allows you to edit to make the ads match the style of WDF.

If the response to the ads is overwhelmingly negative, I will likely remove them.

BTW, two things I forgot to note:

    1. I appreciate support for WDF, but do not use automated processes to artificially increase the clickthrough rate. Not only is it immoral, but it is against Google's TOS.

    2. While I would like to do so, I cannot share the revenue made by the ads due to Google's TOS.

If you've defined a filter for it, yes. That's what happened to me at first.

Exactly. I do not think it will affect posts/traffic. It is not intrusive, and its needed to keep this site going. Im a member of x amount of forums, who all have advertising, and they are thriving.

    Keep it up, filburt

LOL... the "web design" studio next door to my work keeps showing up. Just makes me laugh more than anything since I know the guys, and the stuff they usually pump out. Always funny because people at my work are always saying "That looks like crap man, remember we're not [company x]"

Perhaps an option on the standard view of WDF to have it on the side? Then again, I'm on a wide screen LCD ATM and I have enough space on either side.

Discolsing any information on that subject is against Google's TOS
