The next contest (the May contest) will be graphics-based. What specific suggestions do you have for it?

Post two or three stock photos and have people manipulate them.

I have some nice high resolution stock photos that we can use. Most are technology based, though... PDAs and people working with PDAs. Or, we could ask Photo.net for permission to use one of the photos that people upload there (most are amateur photographers, and would probably go along with it). Or I can go take a photo if you want to specify something. Gives me a reason to practice my photography

If you can get access to royalty-free stock photos for use here, then by all means that would be a good contest and go for it.

www.freefoto.com has hundreds of high quality pics for non-commercial use. Great site, it's laid out pretty well.

Okay, so it can involve stock photos. What should the actual contest be (specifically)?

I don't know about what specifically the contest should be, since I think that would depend on the image(s) selected. I would, however, suggest some limits on file size and image dimensions, in order to avoid someone taking the original, putting ten thousand other things around the outside of it, and having the photo comprise maybe 1% of the image. I'm going to suggest dimensions of 800x600 and file size of 150K (semi-arbitrary but they should still work.)

As far as the contest itself, possibly a themed image based on the original would make sense (e.g. if the picture was of a fire, the fire department could come in and put it out and there could be a woman screaming from a window holding a baby out or something of that vein.)
