This one includes some ideas that I've been tinkering with. What you're looking at is the result of a few lines of HTML but a ton of CSS. Very few images are used as well. Every single image made so far totals up to less than 57 KB, and some of those are junk images that I have yet to get rid of. The final style set will likely be 100% XHTML-compliant on forumhome.

Also, the idea of some of these sneak peeks is also for suggestions. If you have ideas on how to make the new version look better, I'm all ears (or eyes).

    It looks great

Not sure about the indents though, I think you should either have it all indented or none of it indented because it would look 'cleaner'.

BTW, were you planning on having an image that shows if there is new posts in the forum etc. ? I think this is important.

I agree, but not for the same reason. In the example the indents look like they are a mistake instead of intentional. If they were used in a multi paragraph article that would be a different story.

Interesting look, still can't stand the exponent thing though.

How do you propose to change the exponent?

Again, a great peek. I like the idea of the exponent, maybe making the ".net" a little bit smaller will make it clearer?

I like it, although I hate to say I like this design style better. If this one were liquid, I'd be very happy.

IMHO, I think the entire .net should be removed from the header, I don't like it, it's just a domain name, although understandable why you would want to make it prominent... I dunno. I'd rather just see "Web Design Forums" at the top. That's my 2cents.

Seeing them both side by side for the first time, I would probably prefer the current one over the new one, but that is the disadvantage to designing a kickass style: designing the followup style. The new one looks excellent, and after looking at WDF almost every day for the last 8 months, I'm ready for a change. The liquid layout is enough to get me to switch, but this new design is looking great so far. Allowing users to choose between the two styles would absolutely rock, but I'd like to see this new style ported to the new version of vB first, and then have the current style ported, if it's not a monumental task.
