Hello, I'm looking to change my site, and I currently run it purely with Wordpress and I'm personally very displeased with WP so I want to find a new CMS.

I have no language preference, but it does need to be easy to make my own layouts, and have a way to add a theme switcher so the visitor can change the theme (I have 20+ layout images already made)

I have tried the new version Drupal, and I love it's interface and I think I can work my images for themes for it, but I couldn't figure out how to get the theme switcher module to show up in the sidebar after it's installed or my posts (tried a basic test post) to appear on the main page

So can I ask why you are displeased with WP... So many people here are very into it... Perhaps some details on what the issues are ? I'm kinda on the fence about the whole WP thing... All I hear is good stuff about it...

I don't mind at all. One day last week, after I had added some pages the night before, my wordpress install completely disappeared (which had all of my content in 100+ pages) I've since reinstalled WP, and readded my pages, though lost some edits to the fanfictions since I made my server change last year, and while redoing my themes last night (since I had to start fresh on those) I had my widgets in my sidebar as I prefer them and while adding the fifth theme, wordpress removed my widgets from how I had them, which is quite annoying since 2 are the text type that has html (one is my external links such as a gallery and the like and the other is my facebook and twitter profile badges)

Aside from those things, I honestly have no qualls with wordpress

WOW - I've never had an install disappear! I have had the pages and posts become inaccessible after a theme change, due to different settings, but the database was always there.

Often, one theme will allow for different widget setup than another - this can affect how the widgets display.

Are you creating several different whole themes, with different settings, or several different child themes, based on one main theme and its settings? This can make a big difference in the behaviour.

I recommend doing an automatic backup at least once a week, and again before any major change.

They're full themes, though last night I figured out what my widget problem was. When I deleted the two pre-included themes (though neither was my default) it moved the widgets, as is, to the inactive area. Since moving them back, I haven't had one problem

    Good to hear!

Are you going to post the site so we can take a look? I'm fascinated by the idea of allowing users to change the themes.

I've been puzzling over this for a while now and can't figure it out - how do you make the theme change possible? Are you coding in some extra javascript or something?
