    Wordpress Theme

Hi, this may not be the right place to ask. If so, I apologize. But I'm looking for a good theme for my future portfolio and I was wondering if anyone knows what theme this is: Tin Salamunic | Illustration

Or do you know one that is similar? Preferably free

    Thanks a lot!

    Andrei

It isn't one. That's not a WordPress site.

Power to the creator for actually doing his own work (more or less...he's using one of those stupid CSS resets that cause more problems than they solve, but for the most part that looks like his own stuff).

Like the above poster said, it doesn't look like a WordPress site. If it is, they're doing a lot to "hide" the fact that it is WordPress, but it's probably not.

For free WordPress themes, check out the official directory: WordPress ? Free WordPress Themes

Look for "gallery" style themes, WordPress is really easy to set up a gallery site like that, but you need the right theme.

I work with WordPress a lot, and unless there is some way to hide WP that i don't yet know about, this is definitely NOT WordPress.

It's nice to see someone hand-coding an interesting looking site - kudos to Mr. Salamunic.

There's a paid plugin called "Hide My WP" that can pretty effectively hide the fact that a site uses WordPress. Changes /wp-content/ references, changes your login URL, hides generator tags, takes care of pretty much anything that one would normally use to determine a site running on WordPress. There are ways of doing this manually (without that plugin) too. I highly doubt this is the case here, but it is possible.

Well, live and learn! I never knew about this! I have had several conversations at WordCamp Montreal about the topic of security and how to disguise the login, etc, and never heard of this.
I'm not sure if this is a good security measure or an underhanded way of trying to make folks think you're a better coder than you are...

It definitely falls under "security by obscurity" but it can probably help protect you against mass bot scans looking for vulnerable, outdated WordPress installations that check for the things the plugin hides. If your site is individually targeted by an experienced hacker though, they probably have ways of discovering you use something like this, and can discover your "true" login URL to do brute force attacks, etc.

    Well I'll be damned.

Hide My WP | No one can know you use WordPress

Like DC said, it's not overly difficult to figure out that it's still a WP blog (the various classes, etc. are a dead giveaway) but on the surface it doesn't look to be one.

That's a good point about the classes. Especially when you're inserting images in your post with captions. You can have classes like .wp-caption, etc. that would be a dead giveaway. I suppose it's also possible for that plugin to filter the content output to prevent any wp- classes from showing up (but then your accompanying CSS would get messed up). Not sure how in-depth it goes.

Considering the "next" page is index2.htm, I'm going with definitely not WP. I mean, I guess you could rewrite it with .htaccess, but BuiltWith isn't even showing PHP, or any backend language, for that matter.
