    Question Basic CMS

Just wondering if anyone knows of a basic CMS, i don't want widgets, i want to put together a website without using someone else themes and use a CMS to edit the text content of pages.

I could just build a really basic CMS myself, but it'd be easier if that was done already :P

    any suggestions?

If all you're looking to do is have a backend to manage content, but a fully custom front end, most of the bigger CMS's, Wordpress included can do that. In fact, it's possible to use WP solely as an API. You don't have to use someone else's theme. It's just a matter of knowing the API of whatever CMS you choose, and using it to retrieve content.

Alternatively, you could take look at static site generators, like Jekyll. It will manage your content without having the overhead of a CMS. You just drop the content in a folder, run the generator and upload. The second and third steps can even be automated.
