    I have a habit of collecting backgrounds because I like to open them up in image editors and get some ideas . . .

    I land on the www.predicta.com website and right-click and lo and behold, I get a "Sorry, you do not have permission to right click." message! I'd never seen that one before. Here's the javascript:

    Code:
    </SCRIPT>
    <!-- End Preload Script -->

    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript1.1">
    <!-- Original:  Martin Webb (martin@irt.org) -->

    <!-- This script and many more are available free online at -->
    <!-- The JavaScript Source!! http://javascript.internet.com -->

    <!-- Begin
    function right(e) {
    if (navigator.appName == 'Netscape' &&
    (e.which == 3 || e.which == 2))
    return false;
    else if (navigator.appName == 'Microsoft Internet Explorer' &&
    (event.button == 2 || event.button == 3)) {
    alert("Sorry, you do not have permission to right click.");
    return false;
    }
    return true;
    }

    document.onmousedown=right;
    document.onmouseup=right;
    if (document.layers) window.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);
    if (document.layers) window.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEUP);
    window.onmousedown=right;
    window.onmouseup=right;
    //  End -->
    </script>
    Of course, the background gif was listed plainly in the source code, but still, I thought that little bit of no right-click prevention was pretty cool.

    There are also more ways to get around this one - just dragging the picture to your desktop will get you around it the quickest way, also using printscreen/ctrl+v will thwart your copy protection. Best just to watermark your images or not post anything you don't want stolen.

    God forbid anyone should happen to also check their cache for downloaded images and sort it in reverse-chronological order either. Not that it would work or anything. I mean...yeah.

    Hey, I resent that statement as the thought of turning off Javascript hadn't even occured to me. :P

    Another way to view the code and sites like that is to click both the right and left mouse button at the same time. It can be a little tricky but with a little practice, you'll get it.

    also, i viewed the page you referenced on OSX and i didnt get the warning...

    No right click may be useless on smarty-pants like you guys, but it works well for on the average web visitor. My artist clients insist on using it. It makes them feel good, and most people aren't smart enough, or motivated enough to over-ride it.

    Also note this doens't work for Mozilla Firebird I get my plain old menu. Of course firebird actively gets rid of annoying things in web design (such as blinking text - what a horrid thought) so it might be doing that.. I dunno.
