I'm completely new to this. I have PHP 4.3.3 and MySQL 4.1 on my computer. I tried to connect to Mysql, but when I did so I got this message:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'admin@localhost' (Using password: YES) in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\mysqlconnect.php on line 2
So I went to the Mysql website and tried to find an answer to my problem, but I can't seem to understand anything they suggest I do about it. They say to execute such-and-such a command, and I haven't the slightest idea how to do so, and if I even can.

So if someone can suggest something in plain simple English, I would appreciate it

Oh, I forgot to mention that I followed the installation instructions for Mysql, apache, and php to the letter from the book I'm using (Sams "Teach Yourself PHP, MySQL, and Apache"), and I'm sure that apache and mysql are running. I don't think I could overlook a simple thing like that...

Try "root" as username instead of "admin". "root" is the default.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I get the same message as before.

I can only really suggest checking your password and username, are you sure you've made the user properly?

I remember when I had problems with it as well.. Can't really suggest anything more, this probably isn't helping though.

I'm sure I've done that properly, and put in the correct user/password when I try to connect.
