    Is there any way to pull the passwords from a MySQL database to run the Apache private folders? I'm trying to do ths with Perl scripts.

    You could use a PHP login system, which you would probably find easier. Apache uses .htpasswd files which store encrypted passwords. As far as I know its not possible to use MySQL.

    You could always write a PHP or perl script that takes the passwords from MySQL encrypts them and inserts them into an .htpasswd file. I have done a similar thing in the past but in reverse and it works quite well. You do need a cron job running to make sure the passwords are up to date and there is a delay when new accounts are created, or if a password is changed.
