    Hey fellas, i have a MySQL database running on my comp and one on a server I pay for. I created a table on my comp's MySQL and tried to do an import via phpmyadmin into the MySQL on the host server and got this error :

    Code:
     Database dfds2342 running on MySQL Server Farm 2

    Error

    SQL-query :

    * / /*!40101 SET @OLD_SQL_MODE=@@SQL_MODE, SQL_MODE='ANSI'

    MySQL said:

    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '*/
    /*!40101 SET @OLD_SQL_MODE=@@SQL_MODE, SQL_MODE='ANSI'' at line 1

    Back
    Can anyone tell me what this means in poeple speak?

    It means that the "* / /*!40101 " portion of your query is an error.

    Try this:

    SET @OLD_SQL_MODE=@@SQL_MODE, SQL_MODE='ANSI'

    hmm... perhaps I don't know MySQL well enough... but I have no clue where to put that line "SET @OLD_SQL_MODE=@@SQL_MODE, SQL_MODE='ANSI'" nor what "* / /*!40101 " is.

    BTW, rereading your whole thing... it sounds like the dump you're importing got corrupted. You should search for that line and delete it.
