If running both off the same server, will they conflict?

I want to know this as my school server uses MS SQL for the school data system, and I want to use MySQL with their website.

See what I'm getting at? Any conflicts?

There shouldn't be any confilcts. MS SQL listens on port 1433 and MySQL listens on port 3306.

Apparently some software from school runs with MS SQL, and I can't install MySQL because the school software will conflict.

    This sucks.

Its probably becuase another piece of software is using the MySql server port. If you find out exaclty what it is that is conflicting with the school software you will no doubt be able to configure MySql to work around it, such as changing to another port.
