    Apostrophes, Quotation Marks and Ampersands

I administer a website that was built with Drupal by an external agency who provide continuing support. The central tenet of the site is for registered contributors to add new or edit existing records. One issue we have, that our developers have been unable to resolve, is the inclusion of apostrophes, quotation marks and ampersands in record text fields. When a record is subsequently edited apostrophes are converted to their HTML number whilst quotation marks and ampersands are converted to the HTML name. As these contain an ampersand, the problem is exacerbated on each subsequent edit as the HTML name is added for each instance of the ampersand. How can this conversion be stopped?

Running the most current build on Drupal ? There's a function that can be called in PHP ... That will escape special characters so they can be insterted and viewed as entered... Can't imagine a newer Drupal install isn't using it ? Does your ISP Support the newer versions of PHP ? I know some really older versions of PHP did not have the escape special characters function in it.

The last time I ran into something this... The user was using a SQL DB so he couldn't use that function... Once I moved his DB to MySQL... It worked like a charm.
