I like the "best web site you can make without graphics" contest. But you should be able to use a blank gif.

I know, but a blank.gif should be the only exception.

Also, you could try a "worst website" contest . . . it might get interesting to see good designers competing to suck. It would also be the only contest in which newbs would have a chance.

Well the contest for April has been finalized and will be revealed April 1st (the forum will be blindingly visible compared to the others on forumhome). Also, May will be definitely be graphics-related. June has also been decided by a certain member which a large amount of power at WDF for certain reasons and is also offering a relatively large prize.

So if you're going to suggest contests you should suggest them as graphics-related and very specific.

    rjah,

With CSS, you don't really need spacer images anymore.

They're nice for backwards compatible designs, but I think a contest for "best website design w/o images" wouldn't really require so much B-C. That would be a "best B-C website" contest

One suggestion I have is minimal requirements to develop for in web design contests (i.e. "The sites in this contest will be judged based upon their look and functionality as seen on IBM AIX 7 machines using Netscape v.4")

That way, everyone knows what environment they have to test their sites in.
