    This is my very first post on this forum, and I would like to know if it is permissable to discuss the politics of web design itself. For example if you wanted to discuss the direction being taken by the w3c or decisions being made by browser organisations. I don't want to step out of line on WDF but i do think that these are important topics and might well benefit the whole communtiy in the long run.

    Yes, that is fine. The political rule forbids discussion of politics in the context of government, policies, etc.
