How much is each reputation given worth? For example, if filburt clicks the thumbs-up icon once, how much is it worth?
Is it different if you have 20000 posts as opposed to 1?

I am not the expert on the topic but I think some of the things that affect the value of the reputation you can give someone are length of membership and how active you are. As you participate more, you will have more reputation to give away on each click of the thumbs-up.

52 for me. Keep in mind I've been the longest registered and also have a moderately high reputation (some others have higher).

You gain it over time by posting, earning reputation yourself, and existing (i.e., just by being a member over time). The exact formula is a home-brewed secret.

It's interesting, because I think it actually gets more difficult -- at least for me -- to apply positive reputation the more my reputation power rises. With great power comes great responsibility and all that
