Well this has been an interesting couple of days, hasn't it!

Just thought I'd throw some friendly advice to the mods/admins here. I'd recommend that you check (if you can and/or already haven't) the IPs of these posters. Might be just one kid that's a complete moron. Hopefully you can ban by unique IP. Personally, I'd also delete those useless posts and/or threads, but that's just the neat freak in me speaking up. :classic:

Now, for all of those potential trouble makers, if you keep this crap up, you'll have to deal with my meanie face! :devious:

I'm new round here so don't really know what the score is, but wouldn't it be easier just to answer their questions in a professional and accurate way.

Anything else would, in my opinion be acting childish and akin to stomping home saying 'It's my ball and my rules'.

    Just my 3 cents worth.

Well done to the mods and filb for not jumping off of tall buildings or losing their temper or anything like that.

I think we should keep the posts on here (although maybe move them to the hall of shame or something similar so they don't clutter up the normal forums) - it might put other people who are going to post more like it off. Also, I've found on my board that threatening to report them to their ISP and/or Police works - whether you intend to or not.

Another thing that might be worth considering would be to prevent people using hotmail (and any other 'disposable' addresses) to sign up with. That might be worth considering, although I don't know how much of the market you'd be cutting off (most gfx designers have TLD email addresses any way I've found).

We did take a look at their IPs, they are all coming from different places around the world. If they do come back we (well i) will report them to their ISPs with copies of the filth that they posted.

I considered banning free e-mails a while back, but unfortunately most of the signups here are from free e-mails, and they don't cause any trouble. While this was recently an epidemic (and why splufdaddy was promoted, although he was next in line anyway), it seems to have died down.

If you ever have a problem with a post, use the Report it to a moderator link.

Yeah, banning free emails is a nono... I NEVER use anything but my hotmail adress to signup for things on the internet, no matter how "safe" a forum claims your adress is, it never is. I get on average 100+ emails to my hotmail account I signup stuff with on the internet...

I swear a good spam free email now-a-days is like gold. Even my freakin school sold our email adresses! I only gave out my @calpoly.edu email to friends and family, then about 3 weeks ago the entire campus got inundated with emails, I get about 20 viagra ads a day now.

These guys aren't that bad. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen far worse things happen on other forums. This isn't even a problem - if you have a problem with their posts just don't read 'em.

Technically, they haven't broken any major rules. However remember that just as we are pretty advanced at web design, there are still those just venturing into it.

If you see them disobey the rules, use the "Report it to a moderator" link and we'll take action.

There's a difference between being ignorant and being intentionally annoying with your ignorance. They are all pushing the limits of the rules and they all know it.

We will probably have to discuss the matter between mods, but personally, I won't take crap from these guys. Especially if it's intended to annoy or harass the "good members".

The point is, this is a site for talking about web design and solving your web design problems. It is not a site to get together to post random bulls*** and I'll be damned if it ever goes there again.

I, for one, am thankful these idiots (sorry, no other words for them) have been banned. Talking to them nicely and trying to answer their "questions" professionally is just a waste of time.
