The live stats image is very nice but I'm not sure it makes the best use of live stats. Member numbers and post count are useful but lack a certain qualitative content.

This may be hard to implement on an established site like this but an idea:

Why not have a "question answered" button for thread starters to click once they have received the info they posted for. This could then be displayed as a "xxxx web design problems answered in xx days". Something that would personally attract me more than just a straight memberlist count.

Even better would be a percentage of questions answered but that may be trickier as a lot of post are not direct questions and would drag the percentage down falsely. Maybe an option to mark a thread as a question could be added.

    Just a thought.

It sounds like a good idea, I'm not sure how much it would get used though :ermm:

Depends on how 'community minded' the average user is. Obviously the mods could tick the box if they think it's been adequately answered.

I guarantee you half of the answered questions would never be marked as "Answered."

    Also it would require hacking.

Yep - it would up the mods workload considerably.

I'm all for hacking, especially phpBB, but I suppose it would affect future upgrades from vBulletin.

It wouldn't increase our workload at all, because ultimately it's up to the thread starter to say whether or not their question has been answered. I doubt it would affect future upgrades, as you could just re-apply the hack. Either way, hacking vB is a no-no around here. Does sound interesting though. Think I'll research it over at vBulletin.org and maybe toss it to the guys at HoH.

    Does vBulletin not allow hacking?

I don't plan on hacking vBulletin anymore for upgrading reasons.
