    Dear site owner,

I have just logged onto the internet and my mail account for the first time since early November. To my horror I found 1975 new emails mostly advertising hard-core pornographic material. This is the only Internet site to which I have given my email address, therefore I can only presume that you have somehow leaked my details (maybe for financial reward?).

This seemed like a nice site to help me with my course work, it looks like I was wrong, I am not impressed.

Please change my email details here to a non-existent one and I will come here no more.

    Carlos.

I do not divulge any e-mail addresses. Moreover, your e-mail address is never displayed in public, and, if you have chosen to receive e-mail from users here, all e-mail sent will be tagged with leading text stating that the e-mail is not affiliated with WDF.

The most likely situation is that you have posted your e-mail address somewhere on the Internet (and possibly in one of your posts) in plain text, and a spambot managed to crawl it.

If you can provide proof that it is directly linked to WDF, I will investigate the matter and contact my host.

I have just looked at your e-mail address. It has no mention of WDF in it (a good technique of spam-conscious users is to embed the site name in their own e-mail address to trace spam).

I also cannot find your e-mail address posted anywhere on this site.

Also, there are programs spammers will use that try every e-mail address possible at a domain name. My mom had the same problem with her old email address a while back.

Basically, once a spammer finds that an e-mail address is valid, they pour on the throttle.

    Dear Carlos!

I'm just a mediocre user of this forum and not in any way associated with it's administrative group!

Your somewhat conclusive remark about this forum beeing the source of your spammer account, is remarkable!

Everyone who has ever enjoyed the thrill of an internet connection, has had to pay the price of spammers attention!

Your email would, even if you never opened your account ONCE, become available on the market at some point!!!

In my own frustration over beeing spammed to death (and changing my email at least 7 times), I have spent some time digging into litterature on the subject.
If you had some rudimentary knowledge about spammers technical approach to achieving addresses, you wouldn't have written what you did.
What you have done, on the other hand, is to accuse one of the most spam-and-advertize-free places on the web for beeing behind your (all so common) problems!

You sir, are an impolite and impertinent *****!!

I'm very provoced by your accusations, as I (an experienced web-surfer) have found this website to be one of the safe havens on earth (with regard to escaping the commercial pimps of the web)

I think an appology would be in order!

While I appreciate the defense, you have no right to personally attack him (calling him an "idiot"). The rules state as such.

    Yes, I agree!

(It was in the heat of the moment.)

    The:
This seemed like a nice site to help me with my course work, it looks like I was wrong, I am not impressed
    got me carried away.

I hereby denounce my previous characteristic, but leave the overall message as is!

To you Carlos, the 'not beeing impressed bit' is extremely provocating!
Think before you post! (like I should have!)

He hasn't been back since he posted that, so I wouldn't give it a second thought.
