The highlighted images should be preloaded so rolling over them would work more smoothly.

They do preload, it just seems that on IE6 the browser is sluggish in actually switching them. In Mozilla and Safari the change is instantaneous. Then again just look at the flood of HTML on the page itself, understandable why it's happening.

You're right, I've seen this happening on other sites too. But without trying too hard I think I got it working:

See the top icons? Don't seem to be lagging on IE6.

(Not trying to advertise or anything; it's just that I've seen the same thing happen elsewhere and didn't have the time to find a good example.)

Must be the processor then, but for what it's worth they load helluva lot quicker than the ones at the top of this page.

In addition, if you go to this thread and then hit back, the rollovers on the forum page load instantly (IE6). The rollover links are instant on this page now to, once I hit forward. So it just is IE and its oddness (to be mild).

Are they working better anymore? I killed some dead MM_... code that was left over by accident from a previous instantiation of rollovers.

Still the same: slow unless you hit Back, then Forward, which makes the change instantly, otherwise about a 1 sec. delay.
