I'm thinking about starting an online community for fans of a particular rock band. Some of the forums will be devoted to each of the bands CD releases and I want to use small images of each CD in each of the forum links. Much like the Hemingway message board located here:

I also want to have "Order This CD" links linking to each product page on amazon, as well.

My question is: Do I need permission of the copyright holders of the material to do all this or can I just add an acknowledgement clause to my site to be safe from legal harassment?

    Thank you.

P.S. Of course, I'm planning to ask an attorney but I wanted to see what the general opinion is on this.

I would get permission(in writing) from whoever owns the copywrite to the album if for no other reason but to cover yourself.

FYI: A band does not hold copywrite if they are signed to a lable, they work for the lable. In that case you would need the lable's permission. Asking the band would not be sufficient.

This should not be difficult as you are actually helping them promote the band.
