Im feeling for ya.. Tropical storms sux enough as it is. But a hurricane is really bad, and a high intensity one is that much worse, and on top of that, three of them all within weeks of each other is insane..

Yea the only problem is pretty much every state has its share of natural disasters. West has earthquakes and/or high dry heat, central has tornado alley, any place north sufferes from extreame snow and ice, and as you have experianced, the south has hurricains. The US is littered with a multitude of weather problems.

Its just a question of where do you want to take your chances.. Personally I would avoid Florida, California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Montania or pretty much any state that shares a border with Canada. But is just me..

Well I'm from PA originally (NW suburbs of Philly), and you don't get hit by squat there, except for the occasional huge snowstorm every couple of years. Man, I miss snow skiing!

Some people like to classify CA in one big lump.. you can't do that.

The chances of an earthquake hitting Redding are almost zero. The chance of Bakersfield flooding are pretty much zero.

Where I live (central coast) there's really almost nothing to worry about. No smog here, no storms, nothing really. There was an earthquake about 15mi North earlier this year, but it wasn't that big. It ended up opening our cubbords (I didn't feel it) I'd much prefer Earthquakes to hurricaines any day.
