i like ps2 cuase it has a better range of games and rateings.
as with the xbox you have less choice of games as it is more for the adults then kids.
the only reason i would get a xbox is for halo.
does anyone else have any pros and cons for xbox and ps2?

I love my PS2, and all the games I have wanted to play are on it. The Xbox is better, most people will say, but I find the graphics on 99% of PS2 games fine, and my PS2 has worked faultlessly for well over 2 years. So I love it!

Xbox has more powerful hardware and does not require a memory chip (a hidden cost of buying a PS2 or Gamecube). The Xbox also has a unified multiplayer online system via Xbox Live. Because of the hard drive, the Xbox can be modified to be nearly a completely different system, although the legality is questionable.

The PS2 has more games, supports PS1 games, and the games are often more unique. The PS2, as a byproduct of having less superior hardware capability (no hard drive, smaller power supply, weaker graphics, etc.) is much smaller--especially in the newest iteration of the console.

I don't know if the online games for the PS2 have a free service or not, but Xbox Live is $50/year with a 2-month free trial if you buy a qualified Xbox Live game (Halo 2 and Burnout 3 have it).

I have an Xbox, Gamecube, and PC. I have no intention of buying a PS2 because none of the games interest me (or are on one of the other consoles) and the PS2 is at the end of its life, effectively.

I have all 3 consoles. GC for basically Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games. XBOX for the online gaming , fighting games, and xbox specific games, PS2 for fighting games and PS2 specific games.

I live in Spain, and modchips are legal, so I have a complete entertainment system, with linux and everything in a 200 bucks console. The PS2 costs the same, but you can play games, and play dvds. With the xbox you can play games, watch movies(DVD, AVI, DIVX, OGM, ETCETC), surf the internet, set up a FTP server there, set up even apache there, etc.
    It's just too good

Well, here in South Africa, PS2 comes out tops. Theres absolutely no market for Xbox. The reason you ask? We dont have broadband connectivity....Well we do, with ADSL, but because the telephone company have a monopoly, its capped at 3gigs. So in reality, we cant use an XBox Live here.... sad.

Oh, did you ever thaught that Spain has real broadband? Only in the heart of the cities. Here I have a crappy 256/128 ADSL, and it's supposed to go 512/128 since two weeks ago, but who cares you don't have more to choose.
In any case, I don't plan to use xbox live ever, and I'm happy that I broke my PS2 (Heh...Not really, I had preffered to sell it)
