Before I go ahead and give this a try, I wanted to know if anyone knew about Microsofts new anti-spyware program. Anyone tested it?

I just need some opinions before I install *another* Microsoft program that could potentionally break my PC.

    Microsofts new anti-spam.

I am skeptical because of spyware's origins, and the 'one-solution' fix that microsoft has supposedly developed. Statements like this are really bothering:
Microsoft will provide regular signature updates, which the Windows AntiSpyware AutoUpdater can automatically download and install, helping to protect customers from the latest threats.
It just sounds like it's asking for a virus to corrupt this program and wreak havoc.

The problem I foresee is that legitimate software and spware are almost indistinguishable to the average user, and there's really no way around that.

One thing I have noticed is that people jump to conclusions to quickly. It is still in beta phase, so its not perfect.

It looks like a good start though...

That guy of the blog works for Microsoft actually. I suppose he knows more than us about that program.

Scoble also lost mission-critical data because of a.. wait for it... Windows virus. So, he knows more, but not nearly as much as the hackers =/

I used it and prefer it to both Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy.

MS bought out GIANT antiSpyware (http://www.giantcompany.com/p_antiSpyware.htm), so that stuff isn't brand spanking new. I'll throw up a link to a review of the original GIANT antiSyware later.
