So, how is everyone doing on the games they got for Christmas? I am loving Age of Mythology and Half Life 2.

Speaking of which, has anyone else here played Half Life 2? If so, what are your thoughts?

I'm probably not even halfway through the single player, but I can already tell that it's going to shape up to be one of the best games released thus far. The presentation, music, story line, action, and even sound effects are all amazingly top notch.

I finished Half-Life 2. The story is nice and long and the environments spectacular. Just wait until you get the upgraded gravity gun.

I still think Far Cry is my favorite latest-generation game (i.e., over Half-Life 2 and Doom 3).

The gravity gun is spectacular in multiplayer, so I can only imagine. Have you tried the multiplayer?

Far Cry 2 tops Half Life 2 huh? That is pretty surprising. I guess I will need to go pick it up and see.

Doom 3 single player was awful, but the multiplayer was ok. I played in a huge cash prize online tourney (and lost in first round after 90 days of qualifying), so the competition was defintely good. Without that, Doom 3 multiplayer is awful.

Haven't had a chance to try Halo2. Waiting for PC release..

HL2 was fun, gotta set it up in new rig, see how MP does, CS:S.

Far Cry was good, definitely check it out. Halo 2 was good as well, fun online, as is MechAssault 2.

Don't hold your breath for a Halo 2 PC release. It's the flagship game for the Xbox right now and Microsoft would be shooting themselves to make it available for any other system. Remember it took something like three years for even the first Halo to be ported (and it ran like crap, too, no matter what your system specs).

Ah shucks. I was looking forward to Halo 2.

Wired, HL2 mp is awesome. Being able to rip a toilet off the wall and totally own someone with it has a certain something to it.

CS:S you may not need to upgrade for. It still uses most of the original geometry and textures from the original Counter Strike.. it is all just wrapped into the source engine.

I get 100+ fps at any given time running 1600x1200 when playing it, so it should run well on any system.

built a new system recently is what I meant. Bad thing in Cs:S, they REMOVED the anti-cheat stuff that was built in... W T F.
