So what are all your thoughts on the Mac-mini?

John Gruber made an excellent post on his throughts and I agree pretty much.

One thing I did find really interesting is someone's idea of "stackable" additions - like a pancake stack, only sweeter. I thought this idea of stacking computer components so fashionably and seamlessly was a great idea and I'd love to see the MacMini come out with more stackable upgrades.

But overall, I'm way excited - I love where Apple is heading with their brand. People are starting to love Apple again... they're like the knight in shining armor coming to save us from the evil Bill Gates.

    http://www.nixlog.com/apple/ is interesting as well.

Mac mini: Slow HDD (4,200 RPM 2.5 inch drive), minimal memory (256 MB).

Apple venturing into the budget market? Good grief!

Personally I'm not really taken with it, for that price I can make a better PC. If I was going to buy a Mac I would pay more and go for the low end G5, something that does the Apple name justice.

I just want to point out that the Mac mini comes with Apache and PHP pre-installed.

The Mac is a great PHP development platform.
    very interesting!

I disagree. You will not find a bargain PC with high speed Ethernet ports, firewire, USB 2.0 and a DVD/CD RW. Not to mention, the Mac's processor will blow most PC's out of the water, even though it's an older generation.

The 256mb ram is really a shame though, as Gruber pointed out. But it's the price people look at, and they needed to hit the $500 mark.
