I launch Outlook Express, and it automaticlly checks for new messages/message waiting to be sent.

    I get this error:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.virgin.net', Server: 'pop.virgin.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

My ISP is quite slow at the moment so I dunno if it is that.

    Thanks

Sounds like it might be a timeout, especially if you're getting Internet slowness as well. The pop.virgin.net server is the POP3 server that handles your incoming mail if you haven't changed the settings in OE then it's either the server or the connection to the server that's at fault.

Have you installed or reconfigured any Firewall software recently? If port 110 is being blocked then you'll get this error. (Might want to check port 25 as well for outgoing mail).

It's unlikely but Virgin may have changed the server details. Maybe it's worth a look on their tech support site to verify the POP server address.

The ISP speed is back to normal, and the problem is gone.

Yes about a week ago I installed Personal Sygate Firewall, but this blocked me access to Internet, I could not fix this so I uninstalled it.

    Thanks
